At Danny's apartment they found a dry cleaning receipt with the name "Jafar" on it who claims they lived together for six years in school before he moved out to live with a girl. For proof she shows them the sex tape they made the night of the murder. She also says that Byron was with her the night of the murder, all night, but she was afraid to say anything because her father doesn't know about them. Byron attended a meeting after feeling bad about beating up Danny and Addie gave him the Quran to prove there is nothing there talking about blowing up Westerners. Addie is a member of a group called Come Together where they promote understanding between Muslims and members of other religions. Laura finds a Quran in Byron's room from a girl named Addie who convinced Danny to drop his complaint against Byron. The boy says "yeah why can't we all just get along" and even refers to Danny in a derogatory manner saying that Byron beat up Danny the first time because his brother was killed in Afghanistan. They head out to the frat house and ask what was Bryon's problem with Danny. Danny had initially made a complaint with campus police but for some reason withdrew the complaint. She tells them that there were no prints on the tire iron but there was blood on the sweatshirt and that six weeks prior Byron left Danny was a broken nose, black eyes and broken ribs. A huge fight ensues.Īnna tells Antonio and Laura about the case with the possible motive being because Danny was Muslim. A boy in the courtroom behind Byron starts laughing and Amir Nasiri, Danny's father, asks if he thinks it's a joke and goes to attack the boy. Voight came to suspect and later arrest Welch based on information of a previous altercation between Nasiri and Welch and a sweatshirt stained with Nasiri's blood in Byrons closet under dirty underwear. Nasiri had been found beaten to death by a tire iron found in a dumpster. In court, Voight is on the stand testifying they found the body in an abandoned building based on an anonymous tip of a squatter living in the building. Stone assures them that most Americans will not tolerate the murder of an innocent boy. Stone and Valdez meet with the parents of Danny Nasiri who was killed when Byron Welch comes to say that not only is his sorry about Danny but that he didn't kill him.
